Sumo Stomp! open house: Come on in, grab some chanko-nabe and introduce yourself
Welcome all!
I did this a while ago and it was a lot of fun. This post is designed for readers to hop into the comments and introduce themselves. In the last basho there were lots of comments on the daily posts and it was great chatting with some of you there. I’d love to meet more of you, though.
We’ve got readers in 48 US States (if you have a friend in New Hampshire or South Dakota, please convince them to subscribe!).
And we have readers in 61 countries, too!
So please, come on in, introduce yourself and answer these questions:
Who is your favourite rikishi right now?
Who is your pick to win the next tournament?
And, most importantly, what colour mawashi would you wear and why?
This is open for all subscribers (both free and paid). If you would like to support Sumo Stomp! with a paid subscription, though, I’ve just made it easier. Check out the link below for a special discount on an annual subscription (get it before April 1st to be entered into my latest tegata giveaway).
Get 15% off a year subscription to Sumo Stomp! Do this before the end of the day to get entered into a prize draw for a Goeido tegata via Tegatastore.com.
Hey everyone!
I'm Tim and I live north of Toronto.
1. Kirishima. When he's on and healthy, there's no one I find more fun to break down. His sumo can be really smart and creative and have just that right amount of spontaneity.
2. Onosato has to be the front runner. That's my boring pick. My fun pick... Hakuoho.
3. Black. Everyone looks cool in black.
Hey there.
I'm Hengtee, an Australian based out of Tokyo. I try to get to a basho in Ryogoku once a year.
1. Hakuoho. His makuuchi debut is what got me into sumo in the first place, so I have a real soft spot for him.
2. Onosato because he's just so consistently dominant. Hoshoryu has a good shot too if he's healthy and confident; I want to think he may have been fighting nerves in his debut Yokozuna basho (which definitely seemed to be the case when he debuted as an ozeki, too)
3. As much as I like Midorifuji's new red look, it's got to be black.
