Holy crap, the double rematch, it's like a double rainbow 🌈 🌈. Ura seems to just power up after each match instead of losing steam.
Man, Shishi just can't seem to finish even when he's got good positions.
I'm interested to see how far Takerufuji can go up the ranks. He's got that yusho but so far a little inconsistent since. I could see him and Wakatakakage making Ozeki. Anybody have any others they think are Ozeki bound?
Yeah, that was special. The crowd were loving it, too.
Shishi's got some work to do, for sure. He's gotten some oohs and ahs from the crowd for holding on near the edge, but he's not shown much ability to step off to the side on those situations.
I think Takerufuji is right now like that rookie phenom pitcher. He struck out most the line-up, but those same batters are now coming up for a second at bat and now they know what his fastball looks like.
What a trio up top! I love that Takonosho is still kicking it, perhaps reminding us that his runner-up last basho wasn't a fluke. He's never been on my radar, but I'm paying more attention now. I do think it'll be between Kotazakura and Hoshoryo for the win, and I'd love to see either take it. Both are great fighters and so different from each other.
And the Ura vs. Hiradoumi match-up, all three of them, were action-packed. Just WOW.
That's a good point, it's fun that Kotozakura and Hoshoryu have very different styles. That should make the showdown between them (if it comes to that) even more exciting.
A little off topic, but I was just watching a show on women's Sumo and they had best of 3 team Sumo matches. So I was thinking it could be really interesting if they had a Sumo version of BJJ's Quintet rule set.
That would be very cool. Might be something for the US based sumo orgs to try. Right now they seem to be banking on fake fights, which I personally hate.

"Hoshoryu was able to launch Daieisho off the ring to secure his tenth win." Wow, did he! Really great day of sumo. 👍💟
Kirishima continues to claw his way back into this thing and I’m loving it.
I just hope he can rescue a kachi-koshi after all of this. Would be such a shame if he got demoted here after how amazing he looked at the aki basho.
I couldn’t agree more.

Do they test for steroids in Sumo?
I highly doubt it.
